هاجم الرئيس الأمريكي دونالد ترمب، اليوم (الأربعاء)، رئيس بلدية مينيابوليس، جايكوب فراي الذي رفض تطبيق قوانين الهجرة الفيدرالية.

وقال ترمب في منشور على منصته «تروث سوشال» إنه فوجئ بتصريح فراي الذي دار بينهما حوار جيد جداً عقب مقتل اثنين من سكان مينيابوليس برصاص عناصر أمن فيدراليين خلال حملات واسعة النطاق لمكافحة الهجرة، مضيفاً: «هل يُمكن لأحد المقربين منه أن يُوضّح أن هذا التصريح يُعدّ انتهاكاً خطيراً للقانون، وأنه يلعب بالنار!».

وكان رئيس بلدية مينيابوليس، الواقعة في شمال البلاد قد قال «لا تُطبّق ولن تُطبّق» قوانين الهجرة الفيدرالية.

وكان مستشار بارز في البيت الأبيض قد قال، أمس، إن عناصر دائرة الهجرة الأمريكية ربما خرقوا الأصول المعتمدة قبل أن يطلقوا النار ويُردوا ممرضاً خلال الاحتجاجات في مينيابوليس، فيما أكد ترمب أنه يسعى إلى تخفيف التصعيد قليلاً في المدينة.

وأتت هذه التصريحات في ظل استمرار التوتر في مينيابوليس ورشّ رجل (الثلاثاء) النائبة الديمقراطية عن مينيسوتا إلهان عمر بسائل عن طريق حقنة خلال تجمّع جماهيري في المدينة.

وكانت إلهان تدعو إلى تقييد الإجراءات القاسية لإدارة ترمب ضد الهجرة.

بدوره، أوضح مستشار البيت الأبيض ستيفن ميلر أنّ الإدارة تُجري تقييماً حول ما إذا كان عناصر الجمارك وحماية الحدود الذين أطلقوا النار على أليكس بريتي (37 عاماً) (السبت)، قد أخفقوا في اتباع التوجيهات الواضحة لإنشاء حاجز مادي بين فرق الاعتقال ومثيري الشغب، موضحاً أنهم بصدد تقييم سبب عدم التزام فريق الجمارك وحماية الحدود بهذا البروتوكول.

U.S. President Donald Trump attacked Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey today (Wednesday) for refusing to enforce federal immigration laws.

Trump said in a post on his platform "Truth Social" that he was surprised by Frey's statement, which came after a very good dialogue between them following the killing of two Minneapolis residents by federal security personnel during extensive immigration enforcement campaigns, adding: "Can someone close to him clarify that this statement is a serious violation of the law and that he is playing with fire!"

The Mayor of Minneapolis, located in the northern part of the country, had said, "Federal immigration laws will not be enforced and will not be enforced."

A senior White House advisor said yesterday that U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents may have violated established protocols before they shot and wounded a medic during the protests in Minneapolis, while Trump confirmed that he is seeking to de-escalate tensions a bit in the city.

These statements came amid ongoing tensions in Minneapolis, where a man (on Tuesday) sprayed Democratic Congresswoman Ilhan Omar from Minnesota with a liquid using a syringe during a rally in the city.

Ilhan has been calling for restrictions on the harsh measures of the Trump administration against immigration.

For his part, White House advisor Stephen Miller clarified that the administration is assessing whether the Customs and Border Protection agents who shot Alex Bretty (37 years old) on Saturday failed to follow clear directives to create a physical barrier between arrest teams and rioters, explaining that they are evaluating why the Customs and Border Protection team did not adhere to this protocol.
