وبحسب، الموقع المتخصص Thot Cursus فإن السفينة تعود لبدايات القرن السادس عشر، ويرجح أنها سفينة برتغالية كانت جزءاً من الأساطيل التجارية الأوروبية المتجهة إلى الهند، محملة بالذهب والسلع الثمينة، قبل أن تختفي في رحلة غامضة.

وجاء العثور على الحطام خلال عمليات تنقيب صناعية في منطقة نائية، حيث تم اكتشاف هيكل خشبي، ومدافع برونزية، وأدوات ملاحة، وعدد كبير جداً من العملات والأواني الذهبية، ما يشير إلى حجم الثروة التي كانت على متنها.

ويفسر الخبراء هذا الغموض بأن السفينة جنحت قرب الساحل قبل قرون، قبل أن تتحرك الكثبان الرملية تدريجياً وتدفنها داخل اليابسة، لتصبح اليوم جزءاً من الصحراء، وكأن الزمن نفسه أخفى أسرارها.

The discovery of a European ship that vanished nearly 500 years ago in the Namibian desert (Southwest Africa) has astonished historians and archaeologists, as it turned out that the ship was not buried deep in the ocean as expected, but rather in the midst of the dry yellow sands.

According to the specialized site Thot Cursus, the ship dates back to the early 16th century and is believed to be a Portuguese vessel that was part of the European trading fleets heading to India, loaded with gold and precious goods, before it disappeared on a mysterious journey.

The wreck was found during industrial excavation operations in a remote area, where a wooden hull, bronze cannons, navigation tools, and a very large number of coins and gold vessels were discovered, indicating the wealth that was on board.

Experts explain this mystery by suggesting that the ship ran aground near the coast centuries ago, before the sand dunes gradually shifted and buried it within the land, making it today a part of the desert, as if time itself had hidden its secrets.

Marine archaeology experts described the discovery as a rare historical document that provides a deeper understanding of European shipbuilding techniques in the 16th century and the dangers faced by commercial maritime voyages.
